Strong Start BC
Participate with your young child (aged birth to five) in play-based early learning activities – including stories, music and art. This early learning drop-in program is funded by the Ministry of Education an Child Care and helps children develop social, emotional, and academic skills to ease the transition into kindergarten.
StrongStart BC programs provide rich learning environments designed for early learning development – language, physical, cognitive, social and emotional. Qualified early childhood educators lead learning activities where children find opportunity to make friends and interact with others of similar ages before they enter school.
The overall learning experience is shared as parents and caregivers attend with their children and are encouraged to get involved in activities like telling stories, playing games and serving healthy snacks. Join us to learn new ways to support your children's learning, get information about community programs and services, and make valuable connections with others attending the program.
Please note that all children participating in StrongStart must be registered with the Ministry of Education and Child Care. Families can complete and print the registration form online or they can fill out a hardcopy at the StrongStart location. In addition to the registration form, families will need to provide the following information:
- Child's BC Health Care Card (or proof of application if new to the province of BC)
- Proof of child's age and citizenship (Birth Certificate or Passport)
Once a child is registered in StrongStart, they are assigned a Personal Education Number that will be used when they enter K-12 schools in BC.
