Rocky Mountain School District is seeking a full-time Information Technology Manager in Invermere, BC, beginning May 1, 2025.
Rocky Mountain School District is located on the beautiful unceded territory of the Ktunaxa and the Secwépemc peoples. Situated in the heart of the Columbia Valley, Invermere is the central operational center for the District. Rocky Mountain School District serves approximately 3500 students in 18 schools spread over 270 kilometers of the western front range of the Rocky Mountains. The District employs approximately 750 people across the communities of Golden, Edgewater, Invermere, Canal Flats, and Kimberley with an annual operating and capital budget of approximately 61million dollars. Reporting to the Director of Instruction (Technology and Innovative Learning), the IT Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of the District’s Technology Plan, task assignment and prioritization, supervision and evaluation of staff, and overall coordination for the delivery and use of technology throughout the District. The position requires a high level of leadership and technical skills, and includes the development and maintenance of IT practices and procedures to support synergy, efficiencies, and effectiveness of a small Tech Team.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide leadership and operational direction, ensuring the achievement of financial objectives, including expense control, productivity, and the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations
- Work with District, School, and Tech based staff to plan, develop, evaluate and implement technology based educational software and applications
- Improve productivity by developing and managing operational and workflow standards for IT systems
- Be proficient with Microsoft Windows, other Operating Systems, and database administration and analysis
- Have experience with network, hardware, and software management
- Have successful experience leading or supervising others
- Recommend capital investments designed to address capacity challenges and improve efficiency
- Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills
- De-escalate customer concerns by leveraging empathy, logic, and superior soft skills
- Make decisions with integrity that supports district guidelines and make good business sense
- Be able to work effectively in an environment with ongoing distractions
- Have strong project management and change management experience
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of business analytics
- Have greater than 5 years of IT experience
- A technical degree or diploma from an accredited college or university would be an asset
- Experience in a BC K-12 Education environment or equivalent would be an asset
