Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is seeking a self-motivated, organized, and collaborative individual to fill the role of Human Resources Assistant accountable for providing exceptional customer service, administrative and financial support to the HR and Payroll teams. Operating out of the School District Office in Invermere, this is a permanent, non-union, full-time position beginning January 27, 2025.
Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is located on the traditional unceded territories of the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc Nations in the beautiful Columbia Valley in Southeast British Columbia. The District serves more than 650 (union and non-union) employees and 3500 learners across 18 schools in the communities of Canal Flats, Edgewater, Golden, Invermere, Kimberley, Marysville, Nicholson and Windermere.
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the HR Assistant will provide administrative and customer service support to the HR and Payroll departments, including hiring and onboarding; coordination of benefit plans and problem resolution; validation, reporting and maintenance of employee records; collaboration with payroll on contributions and deduction to third party providers.
The successful candidate is an individual who is detail oriented and brings a “customer service” approach to interactions with employees and third-party providers. A self-starter with demonstrated professionalism, superior administrative, organizational and time management skills. The successful applicant will have completed a Business Administration program, HR Certificate or Diploma program or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience in Human Resources, Benefits or Payroll; a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a progressively complex support role, preferably in the public sector and demonstrated proficiency with MS Office 365, HR and Payroll Enterprise systems.
